~seems to have quite a Russian feel, in both the architecture and even some of the people ~big time Italian cuisine here (no surprise) ~lots of anchovies on food-even when I wasn't expecting it (and not really wanting it) ~the markets here were the best I have come across-truly the little artisan-type items I was hoping for ~many people here speak English, but most seem to appreciate some French language attempt ~much more laid back than Paris, and maybe even Provence Some lessons learned from my Riviera journey: And the server was so nice and so willing to explain things while at the same time allowing me to practice (aka: mispronounce!) the beautiful French language.

I decided to splurge on my last night so I went to a restaurant called L' Authentic and ordered scallops and risotto made with octopus ink-that's right! Octopus ink! It was so delicious and the scallops were so good. But alas, all good things must end.Ī cute little police car-doesn't seem real, does it? I have learned so much and seen so much and this was an amazing journey and experience. Home to my family, home to my comfort zone. I can't believe it is over-like I mentioned last night, it has all gone so fast, but at the same time, I am ready to get home.

One of the little city squares surrounded by restaurants and glaciers and cafes (and people!)
